The fourth edition of the Sommeliers Choice Awards, organized by the Beverage Trade Network where wines are judged by Award-Winning Sommeliers, Wine Directors and On-Premise Wine Experts, is pleased to announce the Winners of the 2022 Sommeliers Choice Awards Competition.
The Sommeliers Choice Awards Competition aims to provide on-premise buyers and sommeliers a valuable benchmark for understanding which wines would make a compelling addition to their wine list. The competition prides itself on its unique value offering that it gives wine brands around the world for the American on-premise market.

The judging panel of the Sommeliers Choice Awards consisted of some of the best Sommeliers, Master Sommeliers, On-premise Wine Buyers, and Wine Directors at U.S. restaurants, bars, pubs, and clubs. The top two questions that sommeliers will be attempting to answer as they judge wines is: “Would we stock this?” and “Will the consumer buy the 2nd glass”.
Michael Bowles, Sake Buyer at Wally's Fine Wine, Spirits & Gourmet Market; Wes Box, Winemaker at All points West, James Bube MS, Wine Director at Hogsalt; Joshua Decolongon, Sommelier and Co-Founder at Endless West, SF; Mark Guillaudeu, Beverage Director at Commis; Luke Kenning, Wine Director at Farallon Restaurant SF; Rachel Lowe, Director of Beverage for Levy Restaurants, Chicago; Tiffany Tobey, Sommelier at Carbone, Dallas, TX; Beki Miller, Sommelier and Production Manager for Master the World; Hunter Hammett, Award-Winning Sommelier, Wine Judge & Wine Educator; Morgan Harris MS, Master Sommelier; Emily Carlson, Award Winning Sommelier at DaVero Farms & Winery, are just a few of the highly regarded names who featured on the judging panel.
The competition’s judging process begins with a blind taste test followed by an effective scoring system and finally awarded a score out of 100. Each winner at the Sommeliers Choice Awards is decided based on the following judging formula:
F (Food Parability Score) + T (Typicity Score) + Q (Quality Score) + Value Score (V) + Package Score (P) = Sommeliers Choice Awards Final Score.
A wine scored 96 points and above is awarded Double Gold, 90-95 points get Gold, 80-89 points get Silver, and 70-79 points get Bronze award.
