14/10/2024 Learn about the red wine that was acclaimed as the best Shiraz and the best Australian wine at the 2024 Sommeliers Choice Awards

It is always a delight to stumble upon a wine that is versatile enough to be paired with a wide range of dishes. Sommelier Business shares the details of one such wine: the 2023 Zilzie Victoria Shiraz. Hailing from Australia, this wine wowed the judges at the 2024 Sommeliers Choice Awards with its impeccable taste, texture and tendency to elevate many dishes, bagging the gold medal and the Wine Of The Year By Varietal and Wine Of The Year By Country titles.

About Zilzie Victoria Shiraz

The 2023 Zilzie Victoria Shiraz is scarlet-colored with a small amount of purple pigment. Aptly taking the win as the best Australian wine, this newest vintage has an intense and well-balanced flavor profile that is evident in its taste and aroma.

As you swirl this beverage in front of your nose, its captivating aroma, filled with spices, cherries, and mulberries, will tempt you to take a drink. When you do, this Shiraz wine feels velvety on the mouth due to its smooth tannins and it unveils the taste of luscious berries and a hit of toasty oak.

This Victoria Shiraz achieves such immense aromatic and taste notes as a result of the Shiraz grapes being fermented with Viognier for about a week. Then it is aged in a French and American oak for 10 months.
