10 Wines, 10 Countries: 2022 Paris Wine Cup announces Best in Show by Country awards

07/04/2022 The Paris Wine Cup is one of the most unique wine competitions in the world. What sets this competition apart from others is the metrics involved in judging a “successful” wine.

To win a Paris Wine Cup award you will need to score highly in all three areas of the judging criteria — Q (Quality Score) + Value Score (V) + Package Score (P) = Paris Wine Cup Score. You might have outstanding quality wine, but if the price and packaging are not right, you will not be recognized by the Paris Wine Cup.

The Paris Wine Cup believes that there is no point, for example, in having a 95 point wine if it does not look good or offer consumers great value for money. Those points mean it will remain highly respected within the trade, but it will also remain largely unsold on the shelf or languishing on a restaurant’s wine list. This award furthers wines that customers and the trade can enjoy alike.

The Medal Tally at the 2022 Paris Wine Cup looks like this:

1 Double Gold Medal

14 Gold Medals

188 Silver Medals

88 Bronze Medals

Many special awards are also awarded across different categories like the Wine of the Year, Winery of the Year, Best in Show by Country, Best In Show By Regions Of France, Best in Show by Varietal, Best Wine of The Year by Quality, Best Wine of The Year by Value, and Best Wine of The Year by Package.

One such celebrated award is the Best in Show by Country. Portugal, Argentina, South Africa, Republic of Moldova, Australia, Italy, France, Spain, Greece, and Austria are the countries whose wines are often evaluated under these categories to find one winning wine per region.
