The Paris Wine Cup declared the winners of the 2022 edition recently. Primarily, the Paris Wine Cup celebrates wines that are enjoyable and easy to drink while providing the best quality at an attractive price.

The Paris Wine Cup also recognizes the huge talent and skills that now exist right through the wine supply chain. From the winemakers, growers, and producers that are making the wine; through to the specialist importers and wholesalers that help bring them to market; along with the designers, packaging experts, and brand development teams that ensure there is a market and customer base to sell to. One such award is the Winery of the Year Award.

Quinta das Arcas won the Winery of the Year award at the 2022 Paris Wine Cup. Their iconic 2021 Vintage Arca Nova Vinho Verde Branco made from Loureira, Arinto / Assario branco, Treixadura / Trajadura varietals helped them rake up this title.

Quinta das Arcas SOC. arg. Lda, a family-owned company, was founded in 1985 by Antonio Edwards Monteiro. They are based in Portugal and produce wines mainly in the Vinho Verde region and the Alentejo region. With a total production of very close to 2.500.000 liters, Quinta das Arcas is now a company with firm foundations to approach the global market of quality wine.

Describing the winery, the Founder António Esteves Monteiro says "Our wines are the fruit of dedicated work, persistent and in harmony with nature. Each bottle displays a variety of fresh and intense aromas. Knowing our products is a challenge to the discovery of new emotions.”

Vinho Verde is a signature wine produced by Quinta das Arcas. It is naturally light and fresh, produced in the Demarcated wine Region of Vinho Verde in the Northwest corner of Portugal. This region with its geologic nature, and its Atlantic exposure shapes the wines with distinguished characteristics. The varietals used in its production are mainly native from the region and extremely well adapted to the environment. More than 90% of the wines produced here are white!

Quinta das Arcas has about 200 hectares of vineyard and all 100% in environmentally responsible IPM systems. Located in Sobrado, in the limits of Valongo with Paredes municipality, this estate accommodates all the administrative structure of the Company, the winery, the bottling, and the storage facility of all Quinta das Arcas and Herdade Penedo Gordo products. In this estate with nearly 50 hectares of vineyards more than 30 years old and Under the influence of a very particular microclimate, High-quality grapes from the Loureiro, Trajadura, and Arinto grapes are grown.

5 of their wines also went on to win Silver Medals at the 2022 Paris Wine Cup. 2021 Vintage Arca Nova Vinho Verde Branco made from Loureira, Arinto / Assario branco, Treixadura / Trajadura won a Silver Medal with 87 points; 2020 Vintage Penedo Gordo Regional Tinto made from Aragónez, Trincadeira/ Castelão / Torneiro, Alicante Bouschet won a Silver Medal with 85 points; 2020 Vintage

Herdade Penedo Gordo Tinto made from Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional / Azal Espanhol / Preto de Mortágua, Aragónez won a Silver Medal with 83 points; 2017 Vintage Monte Penedo Gordo Reserva Tinto made from Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional / Azal Espanhol / Preto de Mortágua won a Silver Medal with 83 points; and 2019 Vintage Dona Cepa Douro Tinto made from Touriga Nacional / Azal Espanhol / Preto de Mortágua, Touriga Franca / Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz won a Silver Medal with 83 points.
