The USA Wine Ratings was introduced to give producers a new event that judged their wines in the same way that consumers do. By how good they are quality-wise, what they look like on the shelf, and how much they cost. In order to determine the wines that have got those three factors right requires professional judges with the experience of buying wines for consumers across the on and off-trades. This is why the UWR’s judging panel is made up of Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers, and leading trade buyers from the restaurant and retail industry.
USA Wine Ratings, which goes into its fourth year on the back of record entries for the 2020 event, increased recognition around the world and a new consumer website is accepting wines till June 30, 2021. Brands looking to enter into the 2021 competition must register their wines by June 30 and ship samples by July 5th.
By tasting, sipping, and assessing your products the judges are also the ones that will potentially then go on to then pour and serve them in their outlets. Check the judges here.
Entrants will now get tasting notes, shelf talker templates with tasting notes, and scores when the 2021 results are announced. The shelf talkers will be available in the entrant’s zone free of cost.
Wines are judged on how they taste, their quality, their price, their packaging & design. All those factors are taken into consideration before awarding a medal. That is the way the consumer buys.
The judging is broken down like this: Q (Quality Score) + Value Score (V) + Package Score (P) = USA Wine Ratings Score.
A separate weighted score is given for each of the three parts of the judging process (Quality gets twice the weight.
Quality score: marked out of 100.
Value score: marked out of 100
Packaging score: marked out of 100.
This is your last chance to enter your wines in the 2021 USA Wine Ratings. Submission closes on June 30.
