Paris Wine Cup Gold medal 2022

Maison Patrick GIBOULOT Corton Charlemagne Grand cru is a Still Wine produced by Domaine Patrick GIBOULOT. This 2020 Vintage is made with the Chardonnay varietals. The Maison Patrick GIBOULOT Corton Charlemagne Grand cru was also awarded a Gold Medal, Best in Show by Country, Best in Show by Varietal, and Best In Show By Regions Of France at the 2022 Paris Wine Cup.

This wine is from the Corton-Charlemagne Appellation in the region of Burgundy. This is one of the most popular wines from the region. Its core wine style is Burgundy Côte de Beaune White. Corton-Charlemagne is partly produced in Aloxe-Corton, and partly in Pernand-Vergelesses and Ladoix, villages in the north of the Côte de Beaune. Its altitude ranges from 220 to 360m, with 0.5 ha facing east-south-east to south-south-west in the lieu-dit "En Charlemagne".

The grapes are harvested relatively early preserving the acidity and richness, the natural fullness of the appellation, and its finesse; the wine has a clear golden hue. The wine has deep aromas with notes of hazelnut and fresh walnuts on the nose and in the mouth further notes of apple and apricot can be defined. It is a mineral wine with good acidity and because of its consistency, it is robust, concentrated, and with very beautiful persistence in the mouth. The ideal serving temperature of the wine is 12 to 14°C.

The tasting notes of this winning wine at the 2022 Paris Wine Cup read: “A Grande Dame of France! Bright, concentrated white wine with fresh acidity. A fruit-forward dry wine with ripe yellow fruit flavors on the palate. This wine is well balanced and has oaky characteristics.”
